Individual Therapy
Individual therapy can take on a variety of different forms. It might involve processing past or ongoing experiences, shifting your understanding of current challenges, holding a safe space to talk, or working together to target specific behavioural goals. Regardless of why you're coming to therapy, I prioritize a collaborative approach where we work together with your concerns as they are. I believe that no two people are alike, so I invite your feedback and input to adapt my approach in order to meet your needs. Some of the concerns that we might work on, include:
Emotional Disturbance
Grief
Life Transitions
Relationships
Self Esteem
Stress
ADHD
Anger Management
Anxiety
Behavioural Issues
Coping Skills
Depression
Couples Therapy
Building and sustaining a partnership is not an easy feat. To come together and share a life as separate individuals with different histories, values, and perspectives means that we will not always align. Often times we may create patterns of interacting that inform how we engage with one another. These patterns may be helpful or unhelpful, and we might feel "stuck" in repeating the same argument over and over again. The more arguments repeat, the more they may wear us down and we begin to lose tolerance for one another. This is normal. If you feel like you are drifting apart, misunderstood by your loved one, or struggling to find ways to move forward, couple's therapy might be a helpful next step. Some of the concerns we might work on, include:
Conflict resolution
Connection
Communication
Co-parenting
Divorce/separation
Emotion management
Fertility concerns
Financial difficulties
Grief/loss
Infidelity
Intimacy concerns
Life transitions
Recovery from critical events
Substance use
Family Therapy
Every family goes through several unique stages of development. These stages come with their own challenges that may be experienced differently across all members. As a family grows and develops, the individual members and the dynamics between them become more complex. Family members establish automatic patterns of interacting that can either support or challenge their functioning. Sometimes we may feel like we're doing really well, while other times we feel uncertainty in how we navigate unknown territory. Alternately, we might feel like we've tried everything and are getting nowhere. Some common concerns that families bring to therapy, include:
Health concerns
Life transitions
Parenting/co-parenting
Recovery from critical events
Relational dynamics
Risk-taking behaviour
School concerns
Sibling rivalry
Substance use
Trauma/violence
Attachment concerns
Behavioural concerns
Conflict resolution
Connection
Communication
Daily living concerns
Divorce/separation
Emotion management
Financial difficulties
Grief/loss
Why family therapy and not individual therapy?
It might seem like only one member of your family needs to change in order for things to get better. However, taking a whole-family approach to problems experienced within a family is often more effective as we see greater long-term mental health benefits in individuals and lasting change within the family as a whole. As described above, it is rare that we experience a problem in isolation; hence, it is best to support how all family members experience and respond to such problem. Taking a family-approach to therapy can also carry long-term cost benefits as change has the potential to happen on a larger scale.
When booking your service, I encourage you to ask questions about which modality of therapy
might be most appropriate for the concerns you are experiencing.
Rates & Session Length
Insurance
50-minute sessions: $250
80-minute sessions: $375
Note: All couples and family therapy sessions are 80-minutes, as this gives us enough time to ensure everyone's voice is being heard. The extended length of 80-minute sessions might also be beneficial for some clients seeking individual therapy, especially if we are using EMDR.
I currently offer direct billing through

As a registered psychologist, most insurers will cover my services but I invite you to confirm your coverage before we meet.
