Consultation calls provide an opportunity to briefly discuss your concerns, ask questions about my approach, and determine whether the fit feels appropriate before booking a full session. They can also help us use our time more intentionally and efficiently during a first appointment.
Finding the right therapeutic fit is an important part of the process, and I want you to feel supported in finding the approach and person that best fits your needs. I often encourage clients to “interview” potential therapists and ask questions, as feeling comfortable, understood, and connected in the therapeutic relationship can make a meaningful difference in the work we do together.
Consultations are brief (15-minute), informal conversations focused on understanding what brings you to therapy, answering questions you may have, and discussing whether my approach aligns with what you’re looking for.
Before our call, I ask clients to complete a short form about these topics so we can make the most of our time together.
Starting therapy for the first time can feel unfamiliar or even intimidating. Many clients come into therapy unsure of what to expect, and there is no “right” way to begin. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you.
While the idea of talking about difficult experiences with someone you don’t know may initially feel strange, many clients also describe therapy as a space that gives them permission to speak freely — a space where they don’t have to carry the hard things alone.
Not at all! Therapy is not limited to crisis situations or formal diagnoses. Many people seek therapy to better understand themselves, navigate transitions, improve relationships, process experiences, or create meaningful change in their lives.
It’s completely normal to feel uncertain about starting therapy. Consultation calls can help provide space to ask questions, discuss concerns, and explore whether therapy — and my approach specifically — feels like the right next step for you.
